The first week was devoted to the NGO FOMAMA (Fondation Maman Mangaza), created in 2008, based in Kalima. FOMAMA brings together 28 local associations (2,000 members) located in Kalima and nearby villages. The association is managed by a board of directors chaired by Father Dieudonné Kapolo.
The second week was devoted to the NGO CAPS (Communautés de Base en Action pour la Promotion Sanitaire), created in 2005 and based in Kindu. CAPS brings together 42 local associations (1,000 members) located in Kindu and in the villages on the Kindu/Kasango axis. The association is managed by a board of directors chaired by a doctor, Jacques Bianga.
The two associations, while having their specificities, carry out the same activities. Moreover, they are very diversified: plant production (rainy season crops, vegetables, artemisia...), breeding (poultry, pigs...), fish farming as well as micro-credit, health (health center - care for the elderly...), education, youth support, environment. Agricultural production is developed to popularize new agricultural techniques and also to finance associations and enable them to develop other activities of a more social and environmental nature. Their strategies have one thing in common: they are self-financing their activities as much as possible.
Based on field visits, individual and collective interviews, the AVe expert drew up for each association a diagnosis of all the activities developed, detailing the "agriculture" part. In this diagnosis, he highlighted the positive points to be kept and the negative points to be corrected to improve the existing situation. Based on the analysis of this diagnosis that he shared with the leaders of the two associations, he established for each association a road map to improve the agricultural activities of the two associations. It is by developing them that each association will better self-finance its activities and improve the living conditions of their members and the inhabitants of the villages where they are located.
